Merry Christmas!

At the airport in Greensboro.
Merry Christmas Everyone!

I'm in Telluride, Colorado with family and friends...annual ski trip so it's been quite hard to find time to write! It's been quite a journey getting here since our flight got cancelled and my mom and I stayed up all night to find another flight. We had to drive to Greensboro at 3am and our flight was at 6am...we found out about our flight around 11pm soooo you could say it was a long night. Greensboro is about an hr and a half away so that was a fun trip. We finally got to Telluride, but of course three of our luggage did not make it. We got it the next morning luckily.

Other than the usual hassle getting to Telluride, once you get here, you are in absolute peace. It's definitely one of the best ski resorts, not crowded and very unique. My family and I have been coming here for about eight years now, and just as anyone who has been here, once you visit Telluride, you just keep coming back.
Our Penthouse has a 360 degree view....and this is what we saw on our first night! Beautiful Sunset!
As for the snow, there is a lot less of it this year than ever before. Most of the runs are not open, but likely we've been getting about six inches a day, so that's helping out.  Christmas Day was a blessing. The most white Christmas I could have ever asked for and it was just an absolute joy. Fresh powder, blue skies, with the sun shining...I couldn't have asked for more.
I have to say, I was proud of myself taking this picture! Christmas Day = Magical!
Sister and I on the slopes!
My Christmas Eve outfit! Wearing my new Mango sweater from my loving brother :)
Skiing is amazing! As most of you know, there is a major winter storm in the US at the moment and today it was insane on the mountain. The wind was so strong at the top of the mountain that I literally got blown off! You didn't even have to push yourself because the wind would just push you along...I have to say, it was quite scary up there today! Luckily I made it down safely without falling ;)
Not sure if you can tell...but it was like snow tornadoes everywhere!
Took a hot chocolate break! Watching the storm push through.

Besitos Everyone!

Home for the Holidays

I'm finally home and really glad to be :) I missed my dog a bunch haha and of course my familyyy. This is definitely my favorite time of the year; all the happiness and cheer of being with your loved ones. I can't forget about the baking!!

I've already baked round of my "French Apple Tart" that I made oh-so-many times over Thanksgiving break. My family and I went to my mom's best-friend's Christmas party last night...might be one of my favorite ones, because it's Korean, Filipino, Japanese, and a little bit of American food. It's becoming kind of an annual party, where we switch houses every year between the three families. Only three families and we literally cook for about five...happens every year.
Holiday Spirit!
Looks Delish!
My yummy plate of food...had to try everything...of course ;)

We also do "White Elephant," but since there are only three families, each familiy brings a "good" gift and a "funny" gift. One of the gifts was the game called "What's Yours Like?" First time I've ever played it, but a fun one, and with crazy Asians in the mother so-to-speak, it was definitely a great game to play. Someone picks a card like "favorite cake" and we pass it along so everyone can see except for the one guessing. The one on the "hot seat" asks the question "what's yours like" to each person while they describe the item in a word or two. The person in the "hot seat" has to guess the word(s). A good game to play with your family or give as a gift.

Now off to the mall to get some Christmas
shopping done! My prayers are with everyone
who lost their lives in the tragic massacre at Sandy
Hook Elementary School in Newton, Conn.

Last time we will ever see that in our lifetime...
Lot's of things have happened this year and it's crazy
to think that I was just in Spain living it up just literally
about 7 months ago! Feels like it's been forever, but
I think it's just school that's consuming my life. I am
seriously so glad I am going on break in 2 days because
I really need it; some time for myself to just relax,
read a book that I would really want to enjoy or a magazine
to catch up on some of the latest gossip/fashion....
not that I'm not caught up ;)

So 2013 is the year for "Emerald Green." Anyone into that color?
Well if not, get ready for it to be everywhere. The New Year's
hottest trend is already here and who says you don't look
good in green??? Practically every line is selling this
color and becoming quite a huge hit already. Leatrice Eiseman, author
of the book More Alive with Color and executive director of the Pantone
Color Institute states: “Symbolically, emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal,
and rejuvenation, which is so important in today’s complex world."
Here are a couple of items I found that I think you guys would enjoy:

Motel Star Legging in Crushed Metallic, $85 at Asos
Two Tone Drape Blouse, $58 at Nasty Gal
Blouse with Studded Shoulders $59.90 Zara
Jagger Edge How Charming Leather iPhone Cover, $90.00 at Shopbop
JewelMint has a lot of great little emerald jewelry as well!

Snacks for Exam Week

Hey Guys! Exam week is going well...not that I have any exams really, but I've been keeping myself busy by going to the gym, getting things ready to leave, and of course some studying here and there. The good thing about studying is that I get to take study breaks haha how pathetic...but study breaks for me usually means magazines, chocolate and coffee:)
Chai Latte, Godiva Truffles and my mags: Elle UK & Tasty Desserts
I always bring a snack with me wherever I go and when exam week rolls up, it's always good to having something in your bag to keep your brain fueled. Here are a few of my favorite munchies:
It's Clementine season!!! I love the winter season because of this! It's a great and easy snack to bring along with you!
I'm a huge fan of Kashi bars, I usually go for the original, but there are so many different kinds that you can choose from!
Granola is also an easy snack to bring along; packed with fiber and protein!
Almonds or any kind of nuts are great to keep you fueled and energized.

My best friend Carol left back home to Brazil today so I made her some Cranberry Scones to take with her on her plane ride. Just like I said...I'd be baking this week!

Hairstyle of the Year "Ombre"

The ombre hairstyle started getting popular I would say last year, but it has turned into the new hair trend and will definitely continue on being a hit in the coming year. It's basically a dark to light fade color. Instead of color that starts at the root, darker roots blend into a lightened mid-shaft and end. I have been debating on doing it myself, and I think I might go for it. I need a change and I think this might just do it!

Today was my last day of classes and guess what?!?
I was supposed to have my English exam on Monday,
but my professor was like "alright everyone,
take out a piece of paper, we're going to take our final
exam now,"...ummm take note this is like at the end of class.
My professor listed out all the novels and poems we read
in class and we had to answer five questions on bascially
which did we enjoy reading and which we didn't fancy.
What a great final exam and a great surprise!
We still have a paper due on Monday, but lucky me
I have finished and am done! Hope everyone
had a great day to!

Angels on the Runway

So what did everyone think about the VS Fashion Show??? AMAZING; I loved all the themes this year, but I especially enjoyed Calendar Girls...loved Lily in the American Flag ensemble! Rihanna's performance was sleek and wonderful. I could not get "Diamonds" out of my head. My roommate and I were literally singing that song all night and this morning on our way to class. Biebs did well as well. I liked his all white look...and that vest. He just reminds me of JT or NSync; his moves, his hair, maybe is mic...I don't know. Bruno Mars...gotta love his moves and that smile:) Anywho, check out some of the photos from the show below:

I'm officially done with my Journalism Writing class!
Yayay! Tomorrow I have two three classes and
I'm officially done! I cannot wait, but I'm still
trying to decide what I am going to do next week

Thanksgiving Week

Hey Guys! I haven't forgotten about you! Ever since I went home for Thanksgiving, I have been nonstop cooking, eating, shopping, name it; sadly the entire week flew by and now I am back on campus getting ready for exams.

Thanksgiving week was an absolute blast...the Today show said that the average American gains about one pound during this holiday, but I tell ya, I am sure I gained about five! I was literally in the kitchen the entire time cooking and eating...not complaining. On Wednesday I had a chiropractic appointment; my back has been bothering me for the past couple of months so my mom also booked me a first one! Pretty crazy I know. I'm 21 and had never had a massage before...I think it's because I was always afraid I would start laughing since I am so ticklish. You'd think it would be nice and relaxing, but it ended up being quite a painful experience! My masseuse told me that I was so tight and knotted up in my upper back that she doesn't know how I was able to go on with my daily activities. Luckily she somewhat was able to loosen everything up:/
Family getting ready for the race!
On the morning of Thanksgiving, my entire family ran/walked/crawled the 8k Turkey Trot. It's the second year our entire family has participated and although it's a hassle for my dad to get us all out there, we always feel good afterwards cause it means we can eat as much as we want later! As soon as I got home, I began cooking and then we had all our relatives arrive around 3pm. We had a delicious feast....I love Thanksgiving, I think it my be my favorite holiday.

We always have two turkey's: my parents compete every year! (Roasted vs. Fried) I think this year my mom won! (Roasted)

I made quite a few dishes this thanksgiving including: a French Apple Tart by Barefoot Contessa. It was so good that I made three times! It's super easy and I definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys baking! I made a wonderful Herbed Potato Gratin with Roasted Garlic and Manchego from Food & Wine Magazine, Simple Herbed Green Beans Dish and Tiramisu.
Apple Tart in the oven
Homemade Tiramisu
Our dessert section!

My sister and my friend Carol made chocolate covered preztles with peppermint!

It was also my grandma's 87th birthday! We made her a Japanese roll cake, but made it in the shape of "87". She was definitely happy...a love of sweets!

What did you guys make this year?
